Update for me

Hello everyone! I have not gotten to see anyone in a while and wanted to share what’s been going on with me.

About a month ago now, or shortly after the school came back from break, we had a giant outbreak of covid. While that was overwhelming for us, as even the vaccinated people were getting sick, we also had many people test positive for influenza (at least the A strain that I know of), some kind of a stomach flu was going around, and a lot of sinus infections. I can safely say this has been the craziest last 2 weeks of my life.

I got really sick myself, tested negative for covid (twice) but whatever I had, it had me down for 8 days or so. I can say that I feel much better today, which is really nice.

While this chaos was happening around me, I was also finishing some classes for my university. I am getting very close to finishing my degree (yay!) and was able to pass my 9th course in this semester to give me a total of 27 credits. I still have almost two months left in my semester, and I should be able to finish everything except my student teaching by then. This means I will finish my 6 month semester with 33 credits at the end of March. Very exciting. April and May will be busy with interviews for jobs, Idaho has a teacher shortage on a good year so chances are high I can get a job right away.

That’s about everything with me. I have been doing the leagues over on OSRS here and there but my play times have been very early and often it’s just me. So I thought I would let you all know I am doing good now, things are safe and getting healthy here. I sure hope you all are doing okay with this covid too. Hopefully I’ll see you in game soon as I get more time to play! 🙂

Hi Tyler hugs. TVM for the update I am so glad you are feeling better & avoided Covid although getting Flu instead would not have been pleasant.
Huge congrats on your Teaching progress. I am not familiar with the USA system but I am sure you will get a great Job. I think you have all the qualities to be a great teacher.

Good to hear from you Tyler! I am happy you feel better again and some strains of influenza can be very nasty, as I noticed myself when 4 years ago I landed on the ICU with the flu myself. So this winter I got a flu vaccine as well, even though I normally don’t, simply because I didn’t want to risk taking away an ICU bed for someone who needs it more.
Here the new (veg) gardening season has begun with pre-growing eggplants and peppers. It’s not to busy yet though so soon I will make sure to drop by again in game. As for Covid I simply still stay at home as much as possible, have my groceries delivered at home and I wish I could do the same with my friends – but everyone I know is trying to avoid infections, getting them or giving them. Even though nearly everyone I know got vaccinated, because like you say – the Delta vaccine doesn’t work as well against Omicron. The on-and-off positive, negative tests on omicron doesn’t necessarily mean you get it every time again. It could also just slumber for quite a long time or even your entire life. In that sense the Covid virus that was expected to become endemic like the flu or rhinoviruses might look more like a resident virus. For example the Epstein-Barr virus that causes mononucleosis which could stick its ugly head up once in a while, especially during periods of stress. We’ll see eventually…
Go get that degree, Tyler! And then find yourself that dream-job! Getting a job you like with colleagues you don’t dislike is way too important when you will spend most of the coming decades there!!

hi Tyler, good to read your update. Getting 33 credits in one semester is really good. And a good job should be possible. If not in the USA you could come over to the Netherlands. Big shortage for teachers in math, physics, chemistry etc.

omicron is hitting hard here. Many infections, not too many in hospital though. And yes Mordy: I got the flu vaccination too. And many people I know have covid now. BTW good to read something from you as well. Long time no see. How are your bulbs growing? In our garden the daffodils are like 15 cm, and the tulops 10 cm above soil.
